Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game series published by SEGA, starring the eponymous character. The series made it's debut in 1991 as an exclusive for the SEGA Genesis console, though after the release and underwhelming overall sales of the Dreamcast, the series, as well as SEGA's other IPs, became a third-party property, despite a strong start for the system.
