The Ao Oni are the titular antagonists of the Ao Oni series.

Background

The Oni are a bizarre species of humanoid monsters that inhabit various places abandoned by humans, such as mansions or jailhouses. They seemingly feed on humans, and are capable of turning them into more Onis. Although their intentions seem to be based on instinct, it's possible that they simply feel lonely and wish to make more friends by turning humans into Onis.

Attack Potency: Street Level (Strong enough to easily kill humans that could move around massive shelves with ease.) | Small Building Level (Fuwatty was able to collapse the entire mansion by accident)

Speed: Superhuman (Capable of running several meters in an instant. Filled a room with scribbles in less than a minute.) | Possibly Supraconceptual (Fuwatty was able to run fast enough to travel back in time.)

Durability: Street Level (Presumably equal to their AP) | Small Building Level (Survived attacks from Mika, who seems to be as strong as the Oni.)

Powers, Techniques, and Equipment

Powers

• Transmutation: The Oni's main ability. After killing a target, they transform into Onis. This effect extends to people who die inside the mansion, such as Takeshi, who died by hanging himself. A target may stay alive in their original form for a while after getting infected by the Oni.
• Sharp Teeth: The Onis possess rows of sharp teeth that can easily chew through rope and presumably human flesh.

Notable Members

There are various members of the Ao Oni species, though most of them have unspecified characteristics.

• Ao Oni: The regular Oni. Victims of its transmutation will take on the same appearance as it.
• Fuwatty: Also known as the Blockman Oni. A square monster that can run faster than the regular Oni.
• Squatto: A very muscular Oni. It is implied to be stronger than the regular Oni.

The Ao Oni anime series of TV Shorts has a much goofier tone, and as such, it contains various gag feats that shouldn't apply to the mainline Onis.
